[VCSA] SHA1 Certificates not supported with vCenter 8.0

If you want to upgrade your vCenter Server Appliance from 7.0.x to 8.0x you have to check a lot dependencies and Interoperabilities, but one thing the most of you (including me) may didn´t have on the radar… The LDAPS certificate!!

The error showed a certificate issued for an AD related system and so I discovered that the customer is using a LDAPS connection to this domain. Unfortunalety this certificate was generate with a „SHA1 Signature Algorithm“ that is not longer supported with vCenter 8.0.

First this secure connetion to the domain must be reconfigure with a supported certificate generated as SHA256 and then we can move on with upgrading the vCenter Sever Appliance.

So check this one out, before you will upgrade a vCenter in the future or it could be a show stopper. I definitely will do it from now on 😉
